Glossary
- Calcium Acetate
Calcium Acetate is used to prevent high phosphorus blood levels in canine. This is very important in dogs with chronic or acute kidney disorders.
- Calcium Carbonate
Calcium carbonate is a dietary supplement. Calcium is needed by the body for healthy bones, muscles, nervous system, and heart. Calcium carbonate also is used as an antacid to relieve heartburn, acid indigestion, and stomach upset.
- Calcium Pantothenate
Calcium Pantothenate, more commonly referred to as Vitamin B5, is a water-soluble vitamin. Calcium Pantothenate (Vitamin B5) is necessary for the oxidation of fatty acids and carbohydrates for energy. It also important to the synthesis of cholesterol, Ketones, steroids, hormones, fatty acids, phospholipids and amino acids. B5 is also known to help in preventing depression.
- Calcium Phosphate
Calcium Phosphate is the most abundant mineral in the body. The form calcium phosphate is the hard, dense material, which forms bone and teeth. Calcium is essential in intra- and extracellular fluid exchange, blood clotting, and maintaining a regular heartbeat. It is also important in the initiation of neuromuscular as well as metabolic functions. Unsurprisingly, most of the calcium in the body is stored in a very usable form: bone. Calcium phosphate is also useful in the canine diet as it helps to maintain a more correct digestive system pH.
- Calcium Propionate
Calcium Propionate is source of calcium. It is used as an all-natural mold inhibitor too. Calcium Propionate is commonly used to prevent enclampsia in mammals.
- Calcium Silicate
Calcium Silicate, is a white, odorless, tasteless, anti-caking agent with no nutritional characteristics. Anti-caking agents, serve to absorb moisture inside the package that would otherwise be absorbed by the other ingredients. In this manner, it permits the product to keep its free flowing characteristics. It is added at less than one half-percent.
- Carrots
Carrots are a great source of Vitamin A and Beta Carotene. Vitamin A is very important for healthy skin, eyes, hair, growth, and helps our bodies resist infections. Beta Carotene is linked to reducing chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
- Cayenne Extract
(Capsicum frutescens/) - Although it tastes hot, capsaicin actually stimulates a region of the brain that lowers body temperature. Capsaicin treats the pain and reduces Osteo - arthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis, as well as joint or muscle pain from other causes. Evidence is shows the use of capsaicin for stomach ulcers. Capsaicin is used also for to help treat cystitis (bladder inflammation). Canine research shows that capsaicin has value in improving blood flow to the heart (for example, in the case of heart disease from atherosclerosis [plaque] blocking the arteries to the heart) and reducing risk of an irregular heart rhythm.
- Cholecalciterol
Cholecalciterol (Vitamin D - 3) is essential for calcium absorption and metabolism.
- Choline Chloride
Choline Chloride is generally classified as a B-complex vitamin (referred to as vitamin B4 in some publications), choline influences the metabolism of carotene and vitamin A in animals. It is in fact an essential component for ensuring the proper functioning of the nervous system. Choline also can allow the dog's body to build it's own lecithin.
- Cinnamon (Extract)
Cinnamon (Extract) does much to improve digestion, Considerable anecdotal evidence shows that cinnamon has the ability to tone and constrict tissues in the body. Relief from congestion - Cinnamon has long been consumed to relieve congestion that comes from colds, allergies, and other common conditions. Muscle and joint pain relief, as well as stiffness, is reduced or even eliminated through the continued feeding of cinnamon to canine. Thinning of the blood and better circulation - Like garlic, cinnamon is a blood-thinning agent. Though not as powerful as garlic, cinnamon also acts to increase circulation. Recent studies have shown that cinnamon contains anti-inflammatory compounds that are useful in reducing the pain and inflammation associated with arthritis. There is much evidence that cinnamon is aids in the prevention of canine tooth decay and gum disease. Cinnamon has been proven a powerful antimicrobial agent, one that has the ability to kill germs as E. coli and other harmful bacteria.
- Cobalt proteinate
Cobalt proteinate is the product resulting from the chelation of cobalt with amino acids and/or partially hydrolyzed proteins, as defined by the Association of American Feed Control Officials. It is a nutritional animal feed supplement formulated to prevent and/or correct cobalt deficiency in canine.
- Cobalt Sulfate
Cobalt Sulfate is the only known canine requirement for cobalt is as a constituent of Vitamin B12, which has 4% cobalt in its chemical structure. This means that a cobalt deficiency is really a vitamin B12 deficiency. Microorganisms in the digestive tract are able to synthesize vitamin B12 needs if the diet is adequate in cobalt. Normally, cobalt is not stored in the body in significant quantities. The small amount that is stored does not easily pass back into the intestinal tract where it can be used for vitamin B12 syntheses. Therefore, canine must consume cobalt frequently in the diet for adequate B12 synthesis. Injected cobalt is ineffective.
- Copper Sulfate
Copper Sulfate is required in the formation of hemoglobin, red blood cells as well as bones, while it helps with the formation of elastin as well as collagen - making it necessary for wound healing. A lack of copper may also lead to increased blood fat levels. It is also necessary for the manufacture of the neurotransmitter noradrenaline as well as for the pigmentation of your dogs hair.
- Chondroitin
Green Lipped Shell Mussel, Chondroitin sulfate is part of a large protein molecule (proteoglycan) that gives cartilage elasticity.
- Chicory Extract
Organic Chicory Extract is considered a fine liver, gallbladder and spleen tonic. The herb is called a “chologogue” or substance that promotes the production of bile and stimulates its flow from the gallbladder and bile ducts, and as such, is said to help purify blood and cleanse the liver and gallbladder, which helps to release and dissolve gallstones, expel excess internal mucus, and treat liver complaints, such as jaundice and enlarged liver. The bitter principle in Chicory Root is believed to be beneficial for the glandular organs of the digestive system. The root is said to neutralize acid and correct acid indigestion, heartburn, gastritis, vomiting, upset stomach and lack of appetite. The increased bile production also helps to speed up the digestive process. Chicory Root has been used to nourish and strengthen kidney function and urinary organs. The herb has a diuretic action that increases and promotes the flow of urine, which helps to cleanse the kidneys of toxins and remove them from the body. It has been used to remove gravel, calcium deposits, and excess uric acid from the body, which helps to prevent gout and kidney stones.
